We Visited a Paper Factory: G . F Smith

We all love an excursion! The Buttercrumble team recently took a trip to Hull to explore the city and visit paper merchant, G . F Smith. It was a day filled with learning and discovery and we all came back to the studio feeling inspired and raring to go!

During the visit, G . F Smith delivered a presentation about the history of the organisation and presented paper samples from their archives dating back to 1885! Then, we learnt more about their products by going behind the scenes to how they work to fulfil orders.

We saw a variety of exciting paper samples which made us smile. We absolutely love the interactive elements of G . F Smith’s products. From Gmund Action, which made a sound when you run your fingers along it, to Softy a smooth fur-like stock. Overall, we discovered how paper can give your brand the power it needs to stand out in a creative way.

G . F Smith provides sustainable paper options such as their Extract collection that uses CupCycling™ technology to upcycle takeaway coffee cups, producing stunning paper stocks. Or the natural, recyclable and biodegradable Notpla which uses the by-product of seaweed to create a distinctive, tactile paper stock. Funnily enough, it had a subtle scent which we enjoyed. Sustainability and innovation are a fundamental part of what we do here at Buttercrumble. We are passionate about providing organisations with the best possible design solutions to encourage innovation whilst remaining mindful of the environment.

When it comes to paper, the creative possibilities are endless! G . F Smith provides paper that encourages their customers to elevate their products and push the boundaries. We can support organisations in creating an engaging and interactive experience for consumers through packaging, business cards and any other print projects.

We are dedicated to providing the best printing solutions for our design partners and this trip allowed us to gain more of an understanding of the possibilities of paper that we cannot wait to share with you.  Are you looking to elevate your printing projects? Get in touch and let’s create magic together.
