Illustration in Wakefield: Introducing WX

We recently created a new illustration for the upcoming Wakefield Exchange (WX) site. We're so excited about this development, as it will feature creative business spaces and events. This will connect cultural organisations, entrepreneurs and students within the area.

The artwork was inspired by our roots in Wakefield, which now adorns the hoardings outside the site on Union Street. We hope you like it!

We are connected to Wakefield through our family. Our maternal side originates from the city, and our Great Granddad (Ernest Sugden) has artwork within The Hepworth Gallery. To honour this, we created an illustration inspired by the beautiful Yorkshire landscape and Wakefield's rhubarb. It includes subtle hints about our family's past, so there is an emotive connection.

A huge thank you to Wakefield Council for including our artwork in this special project.

Graphic design is often illustrative, and illustration is often graphic. Buttercrumble's seamless blend results in a visual treat! We’d love to share this creativity with you, please get in touch to collaborate.
