We’ve recently been fearless in the pursuit of improving our practice. We were due to represent British design to Hong Kong as part of Business of Design Week (BoDW) with support from the Department for International Trade. Sadly, the main event was cancelled due to recent escalations in civil disturbances across the region. Undeterred by this, we decided to visit the region anyway!

The Business of Design Week conference was due to be the biggest design trade mission to date. Therefore, it was greatly disappointing to receive news of the cancellation. The thought of visiting Asia for the first time, to a region of unrest, was concerning. However, it was our dream to experience Hong Kong. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we grasped with both hands. Buttercrumble refused to let this go!

This is where we could be excited by the cultural combination of East and West. In fact, we were able to meet with Asian businesses and conduct trend research in one of the most pioneering destinations in the world. Moreover, our work was still exhibited as part of a BoDW satellite event which celebrated British illustrators.
